    My head phone mic does not work with rc 600. I used a mic/phone splitter cable, inserted mic jack to the input 2 in rc 600 and phone jack to phone output on rc 600. No sound comes out. I also inserted the mic input directly into guitar amp, but still no sound comes out. Any insight?

    • @GearSounds
      @GearSounds День назад

      Yes this is because this is a TRS cable. If you look at the tip of the cable you will see a tip a ring and a sleeve In other words two black lines instead of one. All of these cables that you are using for a microphone need to be mono or stereo so you're going to see no black lines or one black line. No headphone microphone combo will work on the pedal. However if you have a headphone microphone combo that splits out into two individual signals that should be fine as long as you plug the headphones into the output and the microphone into the input. That being said I wouldn't recommend that. Just get yourself a cheap condenser mic like an SM-58.

    You should use the sustain feature though man

    • @GearSounds
      @GearSounds 2 дня назад

      Unfortunately that isn't the default function of the hold switch. The whole switch by default acts as a freeze. On the previous version of this video you guys had mentioned the same thing and I erroneously thought that a true sustained function did not exist. It does in fact exist however it is hidden beneath menus. Given the nature of my video is typically being sound after sound, I would have to either globally set a sustain function for a control switch or manually set it with each patch. I think either of these options could work. That being said to manually set it on each patch would make editing a nightmare so that's out. As far as setting a global parameter and assigning it to an expression pedal, this would cause the pedal to sound unlike with the average user could get it to sound like. On the custom sounds video I showed how I was able to get unique sounds so maybe I just need to make another custom sounds video related to the sustain function itself. This type of content gets difficult because I'm already inside of a niche when I do synthesizer content let alone doing direct input stereo or specific functionality of the synthesizer itself that is not default and difficult to set up. I'm continually thinking about that sustain switch! You guys are causing it to be a nightmare for me at this point lol. I'll get to it!

    Hi... Can you make a video where you show some acoustic guitar sounds... nylon, 12 strings, acoustic, maybe a sitar sound... If the boss gm800 could make it easier for me and not bring an acoustic guitar to a gig next to an electric one, it would be great... have you tried those sounds at all and what is their quality? I haven't had the opportunity to hear them anywhere

    • @GearSounds
      @GearSounds 3 дня назад

      This pedal does not contain any real guitar sounds. For guitar sounds you are going to want the SY1000 which contains guitar modeling. This unit instead contains synthesizer versions of acoustic guitars which sound absolutely terrible. This unit is instead intended to replicate keyboard and real synthesizer sounds, but not real guitars. There is no modeling functionality in this pedal whatsoever and it does not listen to your real guitar tone at all. In fact there is actually no place to plug in your guitar at all in the pedal. It is purely a synth unit. If you want acoustic tones you'll want to get the SY1000 but I'd rather you use the two cable method that I use in this video. ruclips.net/user/liveSY6wI7MpFEM?si=WPjWVtbDgGUTa1ga

    Love it! I’m actually intrigued by the sounds and nuances that sound like “imperfections” based on the technology. It’s almost always the case that audible kinks and flaws in tech end up sought after later for nostalgia purposes (Chase Bliss Generation Loss, Warped Vinyl, Lossy, etc). The glitchy ghost note stuff has creative potential. What in the world does a tremolo dive bomb sound like on an acoustic keys preset? I’m assuming a descending cascade of chromatic notes😃🤪 On another note, I’m betting an Evertune set up to prevent bends would be ideal. That would theoretically prevent all microtonal signal inputs.

I read this comment and thought wow, I must have actually made it on RUclips for somebody this intelligent to spend their time to make such a thoughtful and insightful comment .You're absolutely 100% correct good sir and well said! I actually never thought about the mistakes of this pedal being sought after but you're right. The way that it responds to bending is particularly hilarious and I do actually enjoy what it does most of the time. You're also correct about the evertune system. Not just when it comes to bends but I think when it comes to string noise itself. Your comment alone almost warrants an entire video. I could easily talk about how to reduce string noise in the bridge, near the tuning pegs at the head, and in the springs to help increase note accuracy.

    Does this pedal have guitar simulations too like GR 55.... Moreover which is better considering a minimal sized pedalboard ?

    • @GearSounds
      @GearSounds 8 дней назад

      Sadly no this does not have Guitar simulations but I wouldn't recommend it anyways. I think the GM 800 is a better pedal all around and it's also smaller than the GR55 by significant amount with better quality sounds all around outside of Guitar simulations. That being said the guitar simulations in the GR55 are so outdated that you can get a two notes unit to replace that functionality and altogether the GM 800 and the two notes would still be smaller in size than the GR55. Plus the GK 5 pickup is superior technology and has better tracking. I hope that helps. If you do make the purchase please use my links,! I hope I earned your subscription.

    Boss devices sound so thin like spund is coming from far far away. The sounds are not present at all. Is ot because whole bunch of overtones are missing in each notes. Boss sound does not even sound acceptable to me. Maybe different people have different ears or maybe taste for sound. I'm curious which effect you are referring to that sounds thin. I think a lot of the sounds in the boss GT 1000 sound pretty rich especially the delays and the phasers which I use heavily and some of the pre amps are okay too. Yes the distortion sounds like poo but so does the distortion in any multi-effects unit that isn't a dedicated pedal. Do you mean that boss pedals in general sound thin? I think most of their pedals sound pretty good unless you stack too many of them due to the buffer.

    • @beenay18
      @beenay18 8 дней назад

      @@GearSounds yes i mean boss devices in general not anyone effect. I have heard reviewers calling it highly compressed. But i am not sure if highly compressed sound sounds like that. I think what you're hearing is that a lot of boss pedals are not high fidelity but give you great value for the money. Even with these synthesizers I think these are a great value for the money. If they cost a lot more I'm sure they would tell me a lot better but for the money they sound amazing. These are my opinions though but that is what I think people gravitate to boss and EHX. It isn't that they have the best sound quality in the world It's that they are in the top 10 but yet they have medium price ranges

    • @GearSounds

      Yes, a cable would not affect the ability for it to track properly. Just remember that you need the GK3 pickup for this and I'd probably recommend a Gm800 with a GK5 pickup instead of a GR55. Hi, having the same setup, I'm keen on getting more experience from you. If I may share mine, I was always disappointed when (stereo) loopers had created more layer into the same panorama "border". I've found out that it can be amazingly resolved using insert fx "manual panning" and an fx pedal, so that I usually and easily make three layers of the same sound - first one as normal stereo, the second as slightly left and third slightly right. This gives the track much more spaciousness. Today I discovered that BOSS released a new update for GM 800 /April 2024/ that should improve pitch detection and tracking. Have you any experience with it? Ludek, Prague, Czech Rep.

    Piano tends to favor closed chord voicings, which are not easy to do on standard tuning.

    • @GearSounds
      @GearSounds 27 дней назад

      What are closed chord voicings? I could certainly do a video where I tune the guitar to accommodate for these voicings If I know what they are. What tuning would be more suitable for piano style music? I think I do okay on standard tuning all things considered

    • @BrunodeSouzaLino
      @BrunodeSouzaLino 27 дней назад

      @@GearSounds Closed voicings essentially means your intervals are right next to each other. Say, if you take a C11 chord (C-D-E-F-Bb). On a piano, you can play all notes of the chord on the same octave. In standard tuning, your hand would have to span about 11-13 frets for that. Frank Gambale has developed a tuning which is designed to sort of reproduce the midrange of the piano (ADGCEA). This tuning is a bit "expensive" to pull off because you need two different string sets to do it. If the gauge you use is 010, you'd take that and discard the low and high E strings. Then you shift them up (A goes on the low E slow, D on the A, etc.) and tune them in fourths as you'd normally do in standard tuning. Then you take the D and G strings from a 009 set and put them where the high B and E would be and tune them one step up from how you'd normally tune them if they were in their correct slots. Initially, the tuning shouldn't represent much of a challenge because it's essentially standard tuning, but the two highest strings being an octave lower can throw you off. One example of the tuning being used in a song, would be Gambale's "Table for One" from his "Raison D'Être" album. I don't know if you can change the tunings on these new GK pickups. If you can, that should be easy.

    Hi Matthew,you know I didnt really hear any of the mistriggers or ghost notes pretty well at all in that ,well done.Its not the same technique playing piano,as I have had to learn on my GM 800.I wonder if the latest updates had anything to do with that as I noticed a distinct lack of ghost notes since upgrade.Want to see you playing Imagine next time youre out busking!!

    • @GearSounds
      @GearSounds 28 дней назад

      Thank you, I'm glad you noticed I changed my technique to avoid the ghost notes. I worry about doing any update. This is because as a RUclips channel I have to demonstrate the pedal as it comes out of the box, no updates. Otherwise I could misrepresent it. That being said I did quit busking. With the amount of gear I have it just wasn't worth it any longer. Even when I could make two or $300 sometimes I would make absolutely nothing. I have to focus on the channel now. I will still do busking videos but they won't be for me they will be for you guys.

      Yes, the reason this lacks ethnic sounds is because of the markets where it is most popular, Japan and the United States. That being said there are additional zeniology packs with more ethnic instruments. I will be covering these once I finish covering every instrument in the pedal.

    Hi i just bought a SY-300. I got two questions. 1 - Can we use all of the 5 (Wave, LFO etc.) in the same time in the 3 OSC ? 2 - I made a sound and i realy like it and i just want to had a simple slow attack. Like a PAD sound. Where can i find it ? Thanks for all of your videos. Very helpful.

    • @GearSounds
      @GearSounds Месяц назад

      I don't actually own the SY300 nor am I familiar with its capabilities I know that the SY200 is essentially the SY300 with less functionality. Outside of that though I'm not sure what you mean by adding a simple and slow attack. I know that the attack can be adjusted in the GM 800 but I'm not sure how to do it in the SY300. As far as adding a second voice I don't know that the SY300 can do that. There are so many functions of that pedal though it might be possible. It's been a long time since I used it. Fun fact, the SY300 was the first gear sounds video but it appeared on my music channel. It was more popular than any of my music so I decided to start this channel. That was back in 2017

    Hey man, thanks for those awesome videos!!! Did you try the latest update for the GK ? They said it will improve the tracking. And have you ever tried playing in Standard Eflat Tuning or different tuning? Is the tracking good as well ? Hopefully I´ll get mine GM 800 at the end of the year, it´s just so damn expensive :D

    • @GearSounds
      @GearSounds Месяц назад

      The tracking won't be affected until you get to very low notes like bass notes. Bass notes are much harder due to the beginning of the note kind of vibrating in terms of its actual note. That being said I can never update my pedal. The reason why is I am a review channel. The moment I update my pedal is the moment I have a thousand angry comments telling me their pedal doesn't track like mine does. I have to keep the pedal the same as you will receive it. Not to mention quite literally nobody updates pedals, I'm talking like 99% of people do not plug in the pedal to the computer. I understand that my viewers are a large part of that 1% but I would say 70 to 80% of my viewers still don't plug the pedals in and for that reason I have to keep it stock. I also don't want to give companies in advantage by allowing them to update a product after it launches. I want to show you what the launch experience is so you know the reputation of the company for real. I hope that helps. I hope you enjoyed the video anyways and I hope I earned your subscription.

      @GearSounds Interesting. I was hearing some ghost notes and with the latest firmware they improved I guess the tracking and some of the ghosting.

    • @GearSounds
      @GearSounds Месяц назад

      Yeah, and I wish I could update it but my primary concern is that it wouldn't represent the pedal for most people. I would say 95% of people never plug in their pedals into a computer. If I were to update the pedal, the improved tracking when it represent the experience for most people. That is why I never will update pedals for the channel. If I intended to use this more professionally I would certainly have it updated. My intent is to recreate exactly what you will receive if you purchase this. There are still less ghost notes than the previous version but I never allow a company to fix a product after it's sold to the customer. I just don't believe in it. If they sold it with software they created ghost notes, that's what they felt represented the price point. I still find it to be fair.

    • @StringBanger
      @StringBanger Месяц назад

      @GearSounds Maybe have a 2nd one and update that one for yourself. The price point is still the same weather or not they release a good product or a great one. Our phones and computers all need constant updating. I'm running a custom 7 with an Axon AX100 MK-II with ghost hexpander. The Axon isn't produced anymore and for me it's been one the best tracking wise. I have the GM800 coming as well as a GK-5 internal kit for my 7 string since I will be able to take advantage of all 7 strings. Can't do it on a 13 pin unless you have two hexpanders, controllers, cables etc. The Sy-1000 also looks fun and that I can use ghost piezo saddles but no 7 string support. Pretty excited about the GM-800. Great playing and thank you for showing what it can do
